Election Season
It's election time here. Chennai city will vote for a mayor and city councilllors on Monday. Electioneering is done a bit differently, tho. Sure there are speeches, but there are also banners and billboards,
tuk-tuks with loudspeakers (this one is going by our apartment, which is not on a main road, and this was not an isolated occurrance) which play music and canned & live speeches,
and parades (first comes one party, then the next, then the next),
The main issues revolve around sanitation (drainage, clean & available drinking water, garbage pick up) and infrastructure (water pipes, electricity, road building & repair). We wish the candidates, and the voters, well.
