UN Day

Going to an international school has its benefits.  Where else can you eat sweets from 30+ countries in one afternoon?!

UN Day was Friday.  Children, and parents, were encouraged to wear traditional clothing from their country.  Tables were set up in the gym, and parents set up displays, baked goodies, came up with trivia & games, and bought stickers.  Kids made a passport, and each country stamped it.  (US stamped twice: stars & a flag.)

You can see a stage set up in the background, with flags of all the countries represented at school.  Children performed traditional dances.  There was a bagpiper.

There was a mehndi table (my first - of course I smudged it immediately).

Country booths.  Canada was on the other side of the US, and there was almost an international incident when they got their maple syrup on our bunting...  it's amazing what a few pancakes & cookies can do to smooth over hostilities.

Turkey handed out turkish delight (below)!  Belgium brought around trays of chocolate mousse cake (no picture, I was eating!)
Parents collected stickers too.
Then there was clean up.
